 R Brayton Bowen is an organization consultant, educator, author, and professional speaker. He has served as senior officer for Fortune 500 companies, including General Mills, Federated, and Capital Holding Corporation (now AEGON) and has more than 25 years of corporate and consulting experience. He leads The Howland Group®, a strategy consulting, human resource development, and change management firm, and Building Better Worlds of Work®, both based in Louisville. 

He is author of Recognizing and Rewarding Employees (McGraw-Hill), Engaging the Heart for People, Performance, and Profit: Seven Competencies of Compassion@Work (BBWW Press), Compassion in Action: Reflections from Those Making a Difference in the World (BBWW Press), and is contributing author to Back to a New Normal (IAP). 

Brayton is the 2012 recipient of the James E. Flynn Peacemaking award for his work in the areas of social responsibility and social justice. His community outreach initiatives for which he received the award included work with unemployed, uninsured, and indigent populations. He is also a 2024 Honored Listee with Marquis Who’s Who.
