Nick Combs, CSP
Presenting:  "Safety Update:  Same Hazards.  New Spotlight"

Workplace Safety, Public Trust, and the 2027 Enforcement Outlook

Workplace safety is no longer only a compliance issue managed behind closed doors. Employee reviews, social media, public injury data, news coverage, and corporate responsibility reporting increasingly shape how organizations are viewed by employees, applicants, customers, business partners, regulators, and communities. This session examines how the safety landscape is changing, what OSHA and IOSHA enforcement trends may signal for 2027, and why HR leaders play a central role before, during, and after an incident. Attendees will leave with practical insights for protecting employees, strengthening organizational trust, and preparing before the spotlight arrives.

Nick Combs, Certified Safety Professional, with SoIN Safety, LLC

Nick Combs is a Certified Safety Professional, Army veteran, and founder of SoIN Safety, where he helps employers close safety execution gaps before they become operational risks. His career spans nearly two decades of leading teams, developing people, and improving performance across military, public-sector, and private-sector environments. At one organization, Nick implemented a leading-indicator program that reduced recordable injuries by 40 percent by identifying and addressing risk before employees were hurt. He has trained hundreds of frontline leaders, supervisors, and managers in safety and organizational leadership, including designing and leading a weeklong development program for more than 150 emerging Army leaders. He also earned Commandant’s List honors for superior academic achievement at the Army’s Senior Leader Course. A direct and practical speaker, Nick challenges audiences to look beyond policies and compliance and examine what their systems, decisions, and daily behaviors reveal about leadership. He holds a bachelor’s degree in public health and a master’s degree in emergency and disaster management and is an OSHA-Authorized General Industry Outreach Trainer.

This conference is pre-approved for SHRM Certification for 5.25 credits.
